Cardiology is the part of medicine that deals with the circulatory system. Its basic purpose is the study, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The cardiologist is the medical professional with specific training to assist patients with cardiovascular problems, either as a clinician or as a technician specialized in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
